Baby (and Momma) Update

I had a doctor's appointment this morning that I had been dreading since I got pregnant - the torture of drinking 50 grams of glucose before getting pricked for the test for gestational diabetes. In all the books I've read, I understood the glucose cocktail to be horrifying to get down. Admittedly, it wasn't as bad as I suspected, but certainly not a fun experience, nonetheless. It tasted a bit like that nasty Tang drink, of old. At any rate, the prick test results were immediate. I scored a 90 on a scale of up to 140, so the doc said I don't even come close to having gestational diabetes. Woohoo! He also says I'm not anemic. All good news. To date, I've gained 15 pounds, which is in the "normal" realm, but it sure feels abnormal to me! I heard the baby's heartbeat this morning - and he's been quite the kicker in the last couple of weeks. All is well with mom and baby.

Officially in my third trimester, I'm going back to that 'always tired' stage. I went to read a book last night around 7pm and I'm pretty sure I got about 3 pages in when I fell asleep and didn't get up until 8am this morning. Nice!!!

Of course, I have the best husband in the world. Whether I'm napping, propped up on the couch with 4 pillows, or inhaling ice cream, he just smiles and nods. He has been incredibly supportive and loving during my "growth" period! :-)

Former President Jimmy Carter rockin' the harmonica... who knew??!!

Former President, and Georgia native, Jimmy Carter was in the audience at the B.B. King and Willie Nelson concert we attended this past Sunday. By accident, I caught the coolest thing on video - I had planned to video Willie singing "Georgia," but to my amazement (and that of the whole crowd), Jimmy Carter came on stage to play the harmonica!!! It was awesome. It's not the greatest video quality, but you'll get the vibe. I couldn't get it to upload on the blog, so check it out on YouTube!

Willie sings 'Happy Birthday' to Andrew!

We had a great night Sunday at the B.B. King & Willie Nelson concert at Chastain. We were headed for the lawn, but Reese got hooked up with excellent seats at a table, so we really celebrated Andrew's birthday in style. Todd and Marisa joined us for a great night. A quick video is below, but for more great pics, click here.

Our Boston Babymoon

The last trip before baby arrives - our vacation to Boston was jam-packed with fun! We visited family, saw historic sites, and ate great food. Seems like the baby grew every day we were there with all the good eats... at least I think so! We're home sweet home now, but we had a great trip and were excited to see all the Zbeebs, Hansons, Beebes, Fortunatos, and Dowlings! Some group shots are below, but to enjoy more pics of the trip, click here.

John, the other family photographer :-), also took some pics while we were visiting... click here and here for those!

Thanks to all the hospitality we received - can't wait to see everyone again soon!

DO NOT miss this!!!

You've got to start watching the all-time best reality TV show EVER - TLC's "Rock the Reception". It's about couples that want their first dance at their wedding to be one-of-a-kind and for all their guests to enjoy. It's AWESOME! I thought I had planned a great wedding, but if I could do anything different, Andrew and I would totally have 'rocked our reception', for sure! I guess that will have to come when we renew our vows. :-) To check out some of the first dances already shown on TV, click any of the links below. Otherwise, tune into TLC Tuesday nights at 8:30pm. You DO NOT want to miss it!

In this first video, the bride was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and she knew her wedding day was going to be overshadowed with that news, so she wanted to liven things up for everybody - and she definitely did!

Lord help us!

Marisa sent me an email today with the subject line: "Thought of you." I proceeded to open the attached article and could only imagine the possibility that Andrew might have to deliver our son! So, I decided to post it, just in case we need it as a reference come late October. Lord help us!

M-train

Only GT grads will understand this post, but 2 GT students ('gtg4921y' and 'gtg562h') recently posted a very hilarious video on You Tube. It's a rap video suggesting that if you're having trouble at Tech, you might want to switch your major to management - or "take the M-train."

"Hopping on the M-train" is always what we called it, I'm sure even way before my time. These 'rappers' took it to a whole new level - enjoy by clicking here. And, yes, I took the M-train! Class of 2000, baby! Hahaha.

During bad thunderstorms...

... this is where pansies go -
in the only room without windows (our laundry room).
... and this is where babies go -
very close to (practically underneath) Dad!
