From Golden Age to Golden Boy

At Asa's 6-month-checkup, we were told Asa was going into the "Golden Age." Today, for his 9-month appointment, we discussed separation anxiety, teething, sleep interruptions, and childproofing our home. Without saying it out loud, the doc told us to say goodbye to the Golden Age. Instead, we now consider Asa the "Golden Boy." He's reaching developmental milestones at rapid speed and he barely even blinked at the two shots he got in the leg (well, that was an exaggeration, but he took it VERY well!).

The all-important stats: Asa is 20 lbs 1 oz, a whopping 3 lbs heavier than 3 months ago, putting him in the 25th percentile. He is 28 in tall, only a 1/4 in taller than last visit, but admittedly by the doctor, not the most scientific of measurements (they lay him on a piece of paper and use a pen to mark the bottom of his heel and the top of his head - should he squirm, they don't retake the measurement). He's therefore in the 50th percentile in height. And his head circumference is 18 1/2 in, landing him in the 90th percentile in the "big head" category. We think big head = big brain!

The child is amazing us daily... from mastering crawling to turning somersaults (inadvertently) to get out of an indoor pool. He pulls himself up on anything he can reach and he's definitely starting to take a few steps while standing and hanging on for dear life. He's also beginning to use the sign for 'eat' during mealtime. (We've been working on a few signs in sign language since he was about 7 months old - 'eat' is what has stuck. Shocker!!!) He's even giving us kisses on request. Sure, they're open-mouthed, sloppy kisses, but kisses nonetheless. Asa has given us plenty to praise and we can't believe 9 months has already gone by. Pretty soon, the boy will be one-year-old. And don't you worry, it'll be the first time in his short life, but my son WILL have cake on his big day!!! We have loved the past 9 months and can't wait for what's to come.

Monkey Business at ATDC

I shelter most all of my family and friends from my "9 to 5" --- I try to do a really good job of work-life balance. However, lately, if you've been around me, you'd know things at work are BANANAS!!! Here's a few reasons why:

F2D-employee-in-training

Today, we spent the day working with Daddy. Asa started learning the ropes and will be ready to take over the business soon so that he can support the family.
Lovin' on the quackers!

Waitin' for eggs from the hens!

Chattin' with Mr. Vern!

Trainin' Titus and Magee - what a great "down-stay"?!
And trainin' Daddy - what a great "sit-smile"?!

Happy 9-month Birthday, Big Foot!

Thanks to Kathy Ashe, Asa did get a 9-month birthday present - his first pair of Alligator shoes. What a pimp! :-) No, his feet aren't really that big - he still has room to grow, THANK GOODNESS!!! Check back Monday for a doctor's check-up report.

No more pictures, Mom!

More Frogs to Dogs in the press...

Atlanta's #1 rated morning talk show on Q100, The Bert Show, has been airing a story about one of the talk show hosts hitting a dog with her car in the mountains and her follow up story getting the dog back to good health and taking her in to her home as her pet. Frogs to Dogs has helped this dog by transporting her back and forth between vets for surgery and recovery. Consequently, F2D has been mentioned several times on the radio and this morning another quick shout out was on the air waves (right around 2:25 into the clip). Congrats to Drew for all his recent publicity!

Andrew's Fame continues...

Andrew was featured on the CBS 46 news last night at 6 and 11 o'clock. Here is the 6pm story - a tad shorter than the one shown at 11pm. Andrew will continue his efforts to trap this stray German Shepherd and then transport him safely to a vet for a full check-up. There is already a family waiting to take him in!

Look what Daddy found this morning

Asa's been pulling himself up on little chairs and toys in his playroom since last weekend. We thought it would take him a while to figure out the crib railings. We were wrong...

Todd and Marisa's Rehearsal & Dinner

So, it's been a few weeks since their wedding, but my lil' bro, Todd, married a great girl, Marisa, on June 20, 2009. It was an amazing day! The night prior, of course, we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Thanks to my friend, Amanda, we have a terrific photographical record of that evening. Amanda did an awesome job - taking over 600 pics for Todd and Marisa to view for the rest of their lives. I've 'stolen' some of the ones that are really more geared to the Clarkson side of the fam and thought I'd share our family pics here on the blog - click here and enjoy! We hope to see some wedding pics from Todd and Marisa soon!

Asa's first 'big boy' bath --- or white water rafting --- you decide!

Asa's first 4th of July!

We celebrated Independence Day in style (thanks to the red, white, and blue outfit from Aunt Margaret). The whole fam had a great time at Aunt Chich and Uncle Vic's house. It was good food, great company, and a decent view of the Lenox fireworks. Asa missed the fireworks (amazingly slept through them all!), but he got to experience his first sparklers session with Dad!

As promised - more 4th of July photos - click here!
And even more party pics from Amanda - click here!

Pool Party, Part 3

Okay, okay... so all summer long is going to be one big pool party! We know it - and we love it! Asa is really into the water, which is a great thing. We will continue to give him plenty of opportunities in the water, so that he can become our little (or big) fish! On this particular day, everyone wanted to be fish (even the dogs)! For more great pics of this pool party, log on to my Facebook page.
