Half Birthdays and Bubbles

Last Friday, Asa turned 18-months-old. He's officially been on this earth for one-and-a-half years. CRAZY!!! Like all other "unbirthdays", this one came with a doctor's visit. Unlike all others, however, this doctor's visit was fairly uneventful. Asa is over (for the time being) his fear of the doctor's office. He was friendly with the nurse and very cooperative with the doctor. He made Mom and Dad very proud.

Asa weighed in at 32 lbs 12 oz (yep, nearly 33 lbs!) - putting him in the 90th percentile, after gaining 3 lbs in the last 3 months. At this rate, he'll be nearly 40 lbs by the time he turns two. (Lord, don't make me sorry that I actually typed that! Nonetheless, please help us with our grocery bill.) Asa also grew taller, coming in at 33 1/2 inches after growing 2 1/4 inches in the last 3 months - putting him in the 75th percentile. Yea!!! We're so excited he's growing both out AND up!!! And we're pretty sure this is a trend in the right direction - you should see the boy's feet. And, finally, Asa's head also grew 3/4 inch to measure in at 19 3/4 inches - putting him once again in the 95th percentile. Growing out, up, and between the ears --- wonderful! :-) Fortunately, Asa only had to endure one shot (the DTP vaccine). It was quick, not painless, but the boy recovered well and got a sticker for his bravery. Woohoo!

The doc finished off our visit with a questionnaire to assess Asa's developmental growth. Here, too, Asa seems to be doing very well. She didn't see any signs of autism or other development delays. While there isn't a 'stat' for his developmental growth, we think Asa is in the 95th percentile - directly correlated to his head circumference, of course.

Also, last week was the 'Week of the Child' at Asa's school. To celebrate, they had party... after party... after party. The last one was a bubble party and that couldn't have been more up Asa's alley. He absolutely loves bubbles. It was a wonderful week and a major milestone in Asa's (and his parent's) life. We're so excited that he is growing (quite well, in fact), he seems to be a very happy boy, and he gives us incredible happiness, too.

We Got a Facelift

Frogs to Dogs and the Atlanta Animal Ambulance have both undergone MAJOR cosmetic surgery. Thanks to the ultimate web master, Joe, for scrubbing in and doing all the work. We're feeling much perkier these days. Check us out!

DHCDC Trike-a-Thon

Asa's school held a Trike-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital here in Atlanta. The trike-a-thon program teaches children riding-toy safety while also raising money for the hospital. Donations raised enable St. Jude to continue its mission of finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance and no child is denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay. Asa (rather, Asa's Mom) raised $100 for this great cause - and Asa and his classmates had a fantastic time on their trikes!

What a Weekend!

We had an amazing weekend - chock-full-a-fun! The Connell's were in town and we headed to the Atlanta Zoo for animal amazement! Then, we hung out with the Jones' at Sweetwater Creek State Park (first time visit and it did not disappoint!). We finished our weekend with some shopping - the boy's feet are just growing by the second (no pics of our shopping excursion, just the big feet!). Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful family day on Saturday and time with our friends on Sunday. By the end of the weekend, Asa was an egg huntin' pro! More pics of our incredible holiday weekend can be found by clicking here.
