The A Team... The Movie!

Written by Melissa

Yep, we're movie worthy. You didn't know?

Thanks to our photographer, Meredith Hilleary, we've made the big screen... or at least a trailer that says so. I give us two thumbs up!

It's Official

Ariana is TWO! And she celebrates in STYLE!! Check out these awesome birthday party pictures.

Yep, it was a party fit for a big girl. Can't wait to see what her third year brings. The first couple were so full of love, it's actually quite amazing. She's brought more people together - to love her and to love each other - I've never known another soul like her. Heaven sent, for sure.

Ariana, Brought to You by the Letter B

Written by Heather

For starters this has been a blessed year, one to boast about. Ariana has worked hard to become the bright, benevolent toddler she is today. Her blue eyes bring many to a halt, but if you get too close she may become bashful and wave bye-bye. Not the case for big bro, Asa, who never fails to get her bursting with laughter. And she is so proud of her baby brother, Axel, who makes her beam.

Ariana has many favorite things which she can now request using her 50+ signs. Books are always her first request. She will sign butterfly, baby, bad bunny or gape her mouth open to request her favorites. Another common sign we see is for dog, her's is a Boston Terrier mix, when we walk him she will always giggle when kissed by the breeze. Ariana is a very good, though bedraggled eater, as are most her age. She loves bananas and blueberries and will motion yummy when she is happy with her choice. As far as Ari's speech goes, babbling has increased lately though inconsistent. We hope her therapy will allow us to soon hear more of her beautiful voice.

Ariana loves to swim, which is why we chose the beach for her party. Brethren, balloons, bubbles, balls and bathing suits will make for the perfect birthday bash. Ladies wearing bracelets, beads or bows beware, Ariana loves these things on others, just not herself. Men with beards are also pretty popular (as she has gotten use to daddy's prickly one).

For those not able to attend Ari's beach birthday, you will be missed. Those coming, bring your best and brightest smile for bathing this bantam beauty in love and joy. We so look forward to having this brood together again for this blowout. In the meantime, and for those unable to attend, please enjoy clips from Ari's second year.

A Time of New Beginnings

Written by Melissa

This month brings so many new beginnings...

Asa started Kindergarten today! It was a day of great anticipation - shown super early as he awoke at 2:00 a.m. stating he just couldn't sleep he was so excited. The whole house then arose (again) at 7:00 a.m. for the whirlwind that will now become our morning routine (after today, I'm thinking we need an earlier wake up time, but we'll have to skip the 2:00 a.m. interruption). We managed to make the 3-block trek up to Ace's new school, the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School, just in the knick of time (one of us was running up the hill with a week's worth of snacks for the class in tow --- I won't mention names, but HE needed a 15 minute shower to start his day). It was a great first morning and I can't wait to hear all the fun things Asa experienced today.

Ariana turns two this month! It's hard to believe, but she is such a big girl now - crawling, trying to walk on her own (enjoying the assistance of Mom and Dad mostly, but taking a few opportunities to show off her skills all alone), signing very well to communicate her wants and needs, and starting the grueling process of potty training (not sure who that will be harder on - Ari or Heather!). Ariana has a birthday party coming up at Lake Acworth and all of her many family members will be there to celebrate the completion of her second year and the beginning of her third. Every birthday I realize how much love that not only she gives and receives, but that she is the SOURCE of... how many of us are blessed to know and care for her, but also to know and care for each other as a result of her very special life. Blessings abound, without a doubt.

Axel is set to begin his journey in the big world, too. As I plan to return to work in the next few weeks, he will attend a neighborhood nursery called The Nest. That will happen sooner than I'd like (I enjoy watching his fat rolls get fatter), but also right on time. We all look forward to returning to a daily routine - after a crazy summer that included birth, maternity leave, and camp galore (not to mention trips to the candy store and ice cream shop on a nightly basis!). It will be nice to settle back into normalcy and get to know what life will be like with the 7th member of our team.

Time certainly flies and there will surely be many more new beginnings in our future. I'm glad to have this forum to archive these memories for the kids.
